How Many Total Fusion Combinations Are There in PVZ Fusion?

If you’ve been trying to collect every single fusion in Plants vs. Zombies: Fusion, here’s the frustrating truth. The game gets updated so frequently that even the wikis can’t keep up with each other.

So What’s the Actual Count?

The most commonly cited figure right now is 556 total fusions as of Update 3.8.1. But here’s where it gets weird, about 23 of those are what the community calls “Infusible” fusions. You can’t craft them. They just pop out of things like Surprise-box through pure RNG. So if you’re the type who wants to make everything yourself, you’re really looking at 533 craftable combinations.

The most trusted platforms ‘ll tell you 532 (or 514 without the Infusible ones) as of V3.9. One of the community forum claiming these are just 402. Why the huge gap? Different sites count different things — some include upcoming fusions, some split out Odyssey-only ones, and some just haven’t updated since an earlier patch. Basically, pick your source and pick your number.

Breaking Down the Chaos

Rather than obsessing over the exact total, it helps to know what kinds of fusions you’re actually hunting for. They aren’t all created equal.

The Bread and Butter: Common Fusions

Most of what you’ll be crafting falls here. Take two base plants, slap them together, and you get something new. Simple enough. This is by far the biggest chunk of the roster. Over 300 combinations live in this category alone. If you are just starting out, this is where you’ll spend most of your time.

The Power Creep: Upgraded Fusions

Once you’ve got a Common fusion, you can keep going. Fuse it again with another plant (or sometimes zombie-related items) and you hit the upgraded tier. These are noticeably stronger — think of them as your mid-to-late game workhorses. There are 77 of these floating around.

The Skill Check: Advanced (Super) Fusions

These need three base plants and won’t unlock until you beat their specific Fusion Challenge minigame. They’re not just expensive — they’re gated behind actual skill checks. Only 12 exist, but each one feels like a trophy when you finally earn it.

The Big Boys: Titan Fusions

Added back in Update 2.2, these are the showstoppers. You need three plants arranged in a specific pattern around Jicamagicker, and they eat up two lawn tiles. But the power? Absolutely ridiculous. They’re not numerous, but when you drop one, you know it.

Odyssey-Only: The Mode-Locked Fusions

Here’s where a lot of the counting confusion comes from. Odyssey fusions only exist in Odyssey modes, and you need the Glove to mash together Common, Upgraded, Advanced, or even Titan fusions into something completely new. There are 102 of these, but if you never touch Odyssey, they might as well not exist for your collection.

The Lottery: Infusible Fusions

These are the unicorns. No recipe. No crafting. They only appear when existing fusions or RNG mechanics like Surprise-box decide to spit one out. Depending on who you ask, there are either 18 or 23 of them. Good luck planning around these.

A Few Things That Trip People Up

Not every plant plays nice with every other plant. Tall-nut and Spikerock, for example? Pretty picky — they’ll only fuse with Jalapeno and Ice-shroom. Don’t waste your time trying random combinations with them.

Also, the devs regularly tease new fusions, so whatever number feels “complete” today probably won’t next month. And if you’re making a checklist, decide early whether you’re counting Infusible fusions as “real” collectibles or just bonus RNG drops. Most serious collectors don’t.
