Peashooter Plants vs. Zombies Image Gallery
Explore this Peashooter image gallery featuring the classic plant, its attacks, popular plant combinations, and its different designs across the Plants vs. Zombies series.
Quick facts: Peashooter costs 100 sun, fires one pea every ~1.4 seconds dealing 20 damage, and is unlocked from the very first level of the original game.
Classic Peashooter

The classic Peashooter is the first attacking plant you unlock in the original Plants vs. Zombies (2009). It fires peas down the lane at approaching zombies. Key stats: 100 sun cost, 20 damage per pea, ~1.425-second firing rate, and a very fast recharge — making it cheap to deploy in large numbers early in a level.
Peashooter Attacking a Zombie

Peashooter attacks zombies from a distance by continuously firing peas in its lane. A basic Browncoat Zombie has 270 HP, so it takes roughly 14 peas to defeat one. Plan for at least one Peashooter per lane, placed as far left as possible to maximize firing time.
Peashooter and Wall-nut

Wall-nut costs 50 sun and soaks up zombie bites while the Peashooter behind it deals damage safely. This classic “wall-and-cannon” setup is the backbone of early-game defense. So, just remember that Pole Vaulting and Pogo Zombies can jump over Wall-nut entirely.
Peashooter and Torchwood

Torchwood (175 sun) turns ordinary peas into fire peas that deal double damage plus small splash damage — effectively doubling every Peashooter behind it. Plant the Torchwood in front of your Peashooter line, and note this combo doesn’t work on the sloped Roof levels where straight shooters struggle.
Peashooter Across the PvZ Series

Peashooter is one of the few characters to appear in every PvZ title. Here’s how the design has evolved:
Table
| Game | Year | What’s Different |
|---|---|---|
| Plants vs. Zombies | 2009 | The original 2D design; 100 sun, straight-lane pea shots |
| PvZ 2: It’s About Time | 2013 | Sharper HD art; Plant Food ability fires a Gatling-style barrage |
| Garden Warfare 1 & 2 | 2014 / 2016 | First 3D model with arms and pea-pod hands; playable assault class (125 HP, Pea Cannon weapon, Chili Bean Bomb) |
| PvZ Heroes | 2016 | Card-game art style; appears as a 1-sun 1/1 fighter card |
| Battle for Neighborville | 2019 | Simplified Garden Warfare design; character variants removed |
| PvZ 3 | 2020– | More expressive animations; different sun system (3 sun instead of 100) |
Frequently Asked Questions
How much damage does a Peashooter do?
20 damage per pea, firing roughly every 1.4 seconds in the original game. Fire peas from Torchwood double that to 40 plus splash damage.
Is Peashooter good in PvZ 2?
It’s outclassed by later plants in raw power, but its low cost and fast recharge keep it useful as an early-game backbone. Its Plant Food ability (a rapid pea barrage) adds late-game utility.
What’s the difference between Peashooter and Repeater?
Repeater costs 200 sun and fires two peas at a time — essentially double the damage output for double the cost.
